Drop-in event helps the older people and their carers in Haverhill
On 1st July, the Patient Participation Groups of Unity Healthcare and Haverhill Family Practice held a joint drop-in event ‘Supporting & Empowering the Carers of Elderly People’ raising awareness of the support for older people and their carers.
The PPGs are proactive groups that exist to provide feedback to and support for GP surgeries.
The event brought together older people, their caregivers, and supporting organisations under one roof to connect and discover ways to support one another.
The organisations present included; Suffolk Family Carers, Wellbeing Suffolk, Haverhill Library, Haverhill Dementia Group, Dementia Life CIC, Haverhill and District U3a, Citizens Advice, Abbeycroft Leisure and REACH Community Projects.
A social prescriber was on hand to help connect some people that were looking for help or support.
