Video shows people what to expect from their COVID-19 vaccination appointment
A short video has been made for people who have booked an appointment for a COVID-19 jab at the Suffolk GP Federation vaccination centre in Stowmarket.
It has been filmed and edited by Maddie Jack, a 22-year-old filmmaker employed by The Mix, a charity supporting young people and their families, whose base in Ipswich Street, Stowmarket, is being used as a vaccination centre.
The 4½ minute video shows people what to expect when they arrive there for vaccination and gives advice and information, including about what to bring with them, what to wear and where to park.
The Federation’s Sarah Moody, who is managing the vaccination centre, said: “We know and understand that some people are anxious about leaving the relative safety of their own home during a national lockdown for a vaccination appointment.
“The video is an extremely helpful guide to what they can expect when they come to The Mix and gives good practical advice in a very clear way.
“Suffolk GP Federation has taken strenuous measures to make sure that all five of our vaccination centres are COVID-secure and anyone watching the video will be reassured.”
Sarah thanked The Mix for suggesting and making the video, and also for offering its base at 127 Ipswich Street, opposite the Regal, as a vaccination centre.
Dave Pepper, Chief Executive of The Mix, said: “We thought a video would be an effective way to address some of the questions and speculation on local social media groups about coming to The Mix for vaccination.
“It has been a privilege for us to be the base for a COVID-19 vaccination centre and we’re immensely proud to host it.
“The team from the Suffolk GP Federation have been a joy to work with and we’ve been impressed by the enthusiasm and commitment of the wonderful volunteers from across our community.
“It’s also been an opportunity for many people to take a look behind the doors of The Mix and to have a glimpse into the work we do with the young people of Mid Suffolk.”
Sarah, who appears at the start of the video, said that although the video has been made specifically for The Mix, much of the information and advice it contains applied to the other four COVID-19 vaccination centres run by the Federation.
They are located at Debenham Community Centre; The EpiCentre, Haverhill; Trinity Park (Ipswich); and Woodbridge Community Hall.
